City University London was recognised for its green agenda at the prestigious 2010 Giant Green Business Awards at the Islington awards ceremony on Thursday 4 November 2010.

The University was crowned the Overall Winner Medium/Large Business Award at the evening's ceremony, won the Sustainable Food & Eating Award and was highly commended in the Energy Use & CO2 Reduction Award.

The triple win recognises the University's commitment to environmental values and sustainability.  City's Environment Team has worked tirelessly to promote eco-friendly activity within and around the University; previous achievements include attainment of University Fairtrade status and the EcoCampus bronze award.

The evening was hosted by Clive Anderson and representatives from local businesses across the borough of Islington gathered to celebrate their environmental achievements.

"We at City University London are committed to doing all we can to manage our environmental impact and are delighted to achieve the three 2010 Giant Green Business Awards.  They are powerful external endorsements of our efforts and reflect the seriousness with which we approach our environmental responsibilities."

Professor Paul Curran, Vice-Chancellor, City University London

City will be holding its very own Green City Week from Monday 15 to Friday 19 November 2010 to promote the environmental initiatives in place within the University.  Visitors are invited to the University to take part in a week of free eco-friendly activities and events.  The week will include everything from free film screenings to sustainable food stalls and cycle tours.
