Bayes Business School’s programmes have been highly ranked by both The Times Good University Guide 2023 and The Guardian’s Best UK Universities subject league tables.

In The Times Good University Guide, Accounting and Finance courses at Bayes rose ten places from last year’s edition to 12th in the UK – its best ever placing – while Business, Management and Marketing programmes are up five places into 16th. Both were ranked 4th in London.

This climb up the rankings was cemented in The Guardian’s annual league table of UK universities by subject, in which Business and Management improved by 20 places on last year to 18th in the UK, and Accounting and Finance courses climbed ten places to 30th.

For the first time, Marketing courses were evaluated separately from the Business category, and we are proud to see the Bayes Marketing course ranked 1st in London and 5th in the UK.

The Times Good University Guide is an annual publication aimed at providing prospective students with the information they need to make an informed choice about their higher education institution and programme of study. The guide evaluates a number of key factors such as student satisfaction, degree completion, fees and graduate employment statistics.

Contributing factors towards the result include the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) results, in which Bayes ranked 5th in the UK, with 92 per cent of its research classified as ‘world leading or internationally excellent.’ It also incorporates improvements in Bayes' teaching satisfaction.

Recent research from advertising agency Adzuna also found that Bayes graduates earn more than graduates from any other university five years after completing their studies.

The Guardian’s rankings focus primarily on the quality of teaching and the job prospects of graduates. It scores university courses on nine measurements including what students say about their teaching, feedback and the course itself in the annual National Student Survey. This year, 2021 and 2022 results were combined to reflect how universities responded to the pandemic.

Professor Richard Payne, Deputy Dean of Bayes Business School, said:

“The Times Good University Guide has great influence on prospective students and their choice of university and degree programme, so to be ranked among the leading institutions in the country for courses related to business and finance is a proud achievement for us.

“We are making significant strides in our efforts to provide students with an excellent university experience, and our location at the heart of a global financial centre, as well as being adjacent to London’s Tech City, ensures that our students have access to some of the world’s leading employers and career development opportunities.”

Dr Martin Rich, Associate Dean for the Undergraduate Programme at Bayes, said:

“This is a very pleasing result and reflects the work of our dedicated course directors, teaching colleagues, careers team and support staff in delivering an engaging, enjoyable and rewarding student experience to our undergraduates.

“A huge amount of credit and thanks must also go to our excellent set of students and alumni, who themselves have helped to create a vibrant and enriching student experience.

“In particular, it is highly encouraging to see rankings driven by student experience and teaching quality across business and finance disciplines. This progression marks an important step for us in the right direction, and will provide impetus for us to continue improving our undergraduate offering.”
