Villorthan Sunthareswaran receives prestigious award from the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE)

Villorthan Sunthareswaran, a PhD student in aeronautical engineering, is the recipient of the Astridge Postgraduate Research Scholarship, awarded by the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE).
After a competitive application and interview process, the prestigious scholarship is annually awarded to a UK student for the advancement of airworthiness or safety in the field of aviation.
Villorthan, who is delighted at winning the Astridge Scholarship, will receive his award from IMechE President, Peter Flinn, in March.
Supervised for his doctoral studies by Dr Sathiskumar Ponnusami, Villorthan completed his BEng in Aeronautical Engineering (First Class Honours) at City in 2021.
He is developing an AI-driven approach for health monitoring in aerospace composite structures.
