The Cass Medical Leaders group has been set up to offer coaching and resources through LinkedIn to doctors during Covid-19 outbreak.

The Cass Medical Leaders Network has created a LinkedIn group to offer free professional coaching and further resources for doctors in the battle against coronavirus.

The network, grown from students and graduates of Cass’s Executive Master’s in Medical Leadership (EMML) has launched the Cass Medical Leaders group, which will provide online articles, helpful tips and a networking space for doctors seeking useful information. Cass has also joined forces with professional coaching services firm The OCM to provide the Coaching for Resilience mentoring programme free of charge to doctors.

Dr Amanda Goodall, Course Director of the EMML at Cass, said that the experience of working with doctors on the course informed the creation of the online resource:

“Our first module of the programme centres around personal leadership development, which includes coaching.

"Our students, many of whom are medical leaders and managers, benefit greatly from coaching, so we felt it could be a really useful resource for as many doctors as we can reach during this crisis – particularly those in leadership roles."

“Cass Medical Leaders Network acts as a gateway to professional coaches who are all trained by The OCM.”

Coaching specialist The OCM has coaches with experience of working with the NHS and other healthcare providers, helping them deal with stress, crisis management and building resilience.

Ed Parsloe, Chief Executive of The OCM, said the organisation was pleased to be able to offer its services during this time.

“We have all been touched by the amazing efforts of those on the front line dealing with the Covid-19 crisis, no more so than those working in the NHS.

“When faced with a crisis, leaders tend to take less time out for reflection to the detriment of decision-making. Doctors all around the world will be dealing with levels of pressure that they would rarely have experienced before, and taking some time out to speak with a trained professional will help them make better decisions and hopefully help relieve some of the strain they are undoubtedly under right now.

“We look forward to working with doctors and supporting them in any way we can.”

All doctors and medical leaders are invited to join the Cass Medical Leaders LinkedIn group.

Coaching sessions with The OCM will be available on a first come first serve basis with an initial three sessions per person, subject to requirement. Doctors can sign up for the free Coaching for Resilience programme here.
