Highlighting the role that digital technologies can play in fostering international collaborations in teaching and learning, LEaD’s Digital Education team partners with academics from The City Law School (CLS) for ‘Global Week’.
This participative event will showcase some of the different ways that LEaD and CLS have worked together on initiatives where globally distributed students are brought together for educational purposes.
The event will involve short case studies from the CLS academics, an interactive panel about the challenges and opportunities that these projects presented, an audience Q&A, and further discussion activities.
Sandhya Drew is a Senior Lecturer in CLS who teaches on the LLB and Bar Vocational Studies course. She will be talking about her online summer school programme in Human Rights and Business with India’s Jindal Global Law School.
Dr Marc Mimler is a Senior Lecturer in CLS and Programme Director for the LLM (Master of Laws). Marc will cover the redevelopment of the LLM into a trimodal programme, accessible to students in hybrid and fully asynchronous modes.
Eraj Haidari is a Research Fellow on Transnational Legal Education at CLS. Professor Tamara Hervey (Tammy) is Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law at CLS. Eraj and Tammy will speak about a British Council-funded project currently underway between CLS and Udayana University in Indonesia which focuses on gender and law via a series of hybrid workshops.
Dominic Pates will be chairing the event. Dominic is a Senior Educational Technologist in LEaD’s Digital Education team and has played a role in the organisation and facilitation of each of the above projects.
These case studies highlight approaches that can be taken towards Virtual Exchange, an educational practice that offers students opportunities for intercultural and global learning via technology-enabled interaction.
The event will also explore the redesign of a curriculum to provide access to a more globally distributed cohort of learners.
Attendees will find out more about these examples and consider how such approaches might apply in their own disciplines.
