In this discussion, we will engage in a critical discussion about decolonising universities. We will explore questions such as:
- What does it mean to decolonise and how can it be done?
- Are there any shortcomings or risks of attempting to decolonise?
- Is the decolonial debate evolving or is it stagnant?
The discussion is aimed at those who are curious about decolonisation but who may also have questions or reservations about certain manifestations of decolonisation.
We will explore multiple aspects of decolonisation, ranging from teaching to research. This event will be an informal but informative conversation in which participation and dialogue is encouraged for those who wish to be more actively involved.
The discussion will be led by Dr Leon Moosavi, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Liverpool and the founder of The Decolonial Critique, a global network of more than 1,700 scholars, students and activists who have an interest in theoretical and applied approaches to coloniality/decoloniality within and beyond the university.
