Co-development of a holistic personalised intervention to improve experiences and outcomes of childbirth for those aiming for a spontaneous birth
On behalf of the CHERISH research team, it is my pleasure to warmly invite you to our programme development project launch event.
Abstract
We are a research team made up of maternity improvement campaigners, midwives, obstetricians and academic researchers embarking on the preparatory work needed to test a personalised birth bundle, co-designed to improve outcomes for women and birthing people who are aiming for a spontaneous physiological labour and birth.
Accurate diagnosis of complications during labour, birth and the immediate recovery period demands a thorough understanding of the parameters of spontaneous physiology. In this programme development project, we aim to contribute to this understanding by answering two questions:
- What is currently known about the parameters of spontaneous physiology during labour, birth and the immediate recovery period?
- What conditions are needed to support women who want to achieve spontaneous physiological labour and birth?
Together these two areas will be used to inform the co-design of a maternity care bundle to be tested in a full programme.
In this launch event we will:
- Introduce you to our team
- Discuss the problem that we are exploring
- Outline our project’s co-development approach
- Invite comment and discussion on the project’s aims, objectives and design.
Please do join us for what we hope will be an exciting event!
