Nurfadzilah Yahaya is Assistant Professor in the History Department at Yale University. Her book Fluid Jurisdictions: Colonial Law and Arabs in Southeast Asia, published by Cornell University Press in 2020, touches upon the Indian Ocean, Islamic law, and mobilities. She is currently writing a book on the history of land reclamation in the British Empire.
She has published in Law and History Review and other journals. She is also a co-editor of the Asia section of History Compass and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, Journal of Global History and Journal of Indian Ocean World Studies.
