A short Taster Session for the MA/MFA in Creative Writing.
Overview
This taster seminar looks at Sally Rooney’s three published novels from an alternative perspective. While Conversations with Friends, Normal People and Beautiful World, Where Are You? have been praised for their prose style, characterisation and insight into contemporary mores, less attention has been given to their plotting. Indeed, at times they seem almost plotless. In this taster seminar Jonathan Gibbs asks what lessons creative writers can learn from their counter-intuitive construction.
Dr Jonathan Gibbs is Programme Director of the MA and MFA Creative Writing programmes at City. This session is open to anyone and everyone but is especially designed to give participants a taster of what studying on the MA and MFA Creative Writing at City, University of London is like.
There will be a Q&A at the end of the webinar for interested applicants.
N.B. this event is scheduled to take place online through the Zoom platform and all timings mentioned refer to UK time.
