Speaker: Lindsey Collins
The Centre for Language and Communication Science Research at the School of Health Science, City, University of London welcomes Dr. Lindsey Collins, to discuss their findings on the experiences of people living with dementia and dysphagia in care homes, as part of the research seminar series.
In this talk, Dr. Collins will share qualitative data from a research study that explored the eating and drinking experiences of people living with dementia and dysphagia in care homes.
She will draw on data gathered through interviews with care home residents, family carers and care home staff as well as observations of eating and drinking episodes and interactions.
She will share details of the inductively derived themes of identity, quality and quantity, choice, independence and involvement and resignation and provide recommendations for education, research and policy.
About the speaker
Lindsey Collins is a post-doctoral fellow and senior dementia care consultant at trainer at the University of Bradford. She is also a registered Speech and Language Therapist specialising in dementia.
