In September 2019, Andrew was invited by EIT Digital, an EU funded innovation institute, to present on ‘Artificial Intelligence as a Disruptor’.
This proved to be a pivotal moment which saw the team throw themselves into the world of Artificial Intelligence. After all, Artificial Intelligence loves rules and data and long-term savings and protection providers are awash with rules and data!
Ai-London went on to form a strategic partnership with EIT Digital and City, University of London, winning EU funding for a four-year Industrial PhD programme to ‘Utilise AI to Close the Financial Advice Gap’.
By this time, Ai-London was on a roll and Andrew used his time in early 2020, whilst not travelling the globe, to gain a first-class certificate on the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
In May 2020, the EIT Digital DeepHack challenged over 300 teams from around the world to harness modern digital technology, like mobile phones, data analytics, AI and social media for epidemic and pandemic lifecycle management.
The Ai-London team worked non-stop for 48 hours, to develop their first AI Use Case, including a mobile app, prompting European Commission Director Jean-David MALO to tweet, “Congratulations to Ai-London for its proposal of an AI-enabled app to insure social gatherings" and the team came third out of 304 participants from around the globe.
Building on this momentum, Ai-London recruited four Ai-INTERNS from City, University of London and now, the future looks bright. Looking ahead, Andrew, Nash and their team will be focused on their mission to ‘unlock the power of AI for savings and protection providers’.
