New research by Photis Lysandrou argues that the pandemic has reinforced key aspects of financialisation, including the colonisation of the future and the perpetuation of a global core-periphery divide. Photis Lysandrou is Research Professor at CITYPERC, City, University of London. He has published widely on global political economy and finance. His book, Commodity: The Global Commodity System in the 21st Century was published by Routledge in 2018.
Discussant: Mareike Beck, King’s College London.
Mareike Beck is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the Department of European and International Studies, King’s College London. Her research focuses on financialisation, global banking, asset and debt-based inequalities and comparative political economy.
