The investment management business, as with much of finance, has been revolutionised by the explosion in data availability over the past decade, and the means to draw deeper inference from it: artificial intelligence.
Dan will talk to the opportunity for using AI to drive investment decisions, and more specifically how to draw more accurate conclusions about a company’s contribution to society and their stewardship of the environment (ESG investing), to avoid greenwashing.
There’s a complication though.
All your models need to be explainable or interpretable. In a world where black-box decisions are “non-complaint”, Dan also explains these two schools of thought in the battle for pre-eminence in AI’s financial revolution, and how our very own Prof d’Avila Garcez may have already found the answers.
Dan has hired, started businesses with, and formed research partnerships with City Data Science grads. In this talk Dan discusses opportunities for internships, start-up investment, and fully funded PhD studentships available at the University of Warwick.
