The moderator will be Canan Kocabasoglu Hillmer, Director of the Global Women's Leadership programme.
The panel will discuss how men can be proactive on these issues and explore:
- Why it's important that men actively champion intersectional gender equity (across race, age, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation and more)
- How men can become more inclusive leaders
- What practical steps men can take every day to support women at work

Pavita Cooper is Deputy Chair of the 30% Club, a global campaign led by chairs and CEOs taking action to increase gender diversity at board and senior management levels. She is also founder of talent and career insight business More Difference. She works with Boards and Executive teams to build culture and inclusion across their organisations. Pavita is recognised as a leading culture and diversity expert; she has over 30 years’ experience as an executive talent leader across a range of multi-sector global blue-chip organisations. She is a Commissioner to the Board of the Equality & Human Rights Commission, the lead NED to an agency of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, a Trustee of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) where she chairs CMI Race and a Trustee of the Old Vic. Pavita was awarded Woman of the Year at the Asian Business Awards in 2017.
Nikhil Rathi is an executive Financial Conduct Authority Board member and was appointed Chief Executive of the FCA on 1 October 2020. Nikhil was previously Chief Executive of London Stock Exchange (LSE) plc and Director of International Development. Before joining the LSE in 2014, Nikhil served in HM Treasury, latterly as Director of Financial Services.
David Smith, PhD, is co-author of the book Good Guys: How Men Can Be Better Allies for Women in the Workplace and Associate Professor of Sociology in the College of Leadership and Ethics at the U.S. Naval War College. A former Navy pilot, Dr. Smith led diverse organizations of women and men culminating in command of a squadron in combat and flew more than 3,000 hours over 30 years including combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a sociologist trained in military sociology and social psychology, he focuses his research in gender, work, and family issues including gender bias in performance evaluations, dual career families, military families, women in the military, and retention of women. He is the co-author of Athena Rising: How and Why Men Should Mentor Women and numerous journal articles and book chapters that focus on gender and the workplace.
