PhD Research Student
Sylwia holds MA in Linguistics and Information Science from University of Poznan, Poland (2001) and MSc in Human-Centred Systems from City, University of London (2011). Currently, she is studying towards a PhD under the supervision of Dr Andrew MacFarlane, Prof Ayşe Göker, and Dr Simone Stumpf. Her PhD work investigates the information behaviour and image needs of professionals working in creative industries with a particular focus on how images are selected, used and tailored in online journalism. Sylwia worked as a user researcher at the BBC Online for 7 years. Currently, she is involved in the development of a library at the Government Art Collection. This role includes classification of visual resources (e.g. catalogues of artwork including photographs) based on the needs of the library users.
