Comparative Antitrust Law
The approach of this module is to compare the two principal competition law systems: the US and the European Union. These two systems have the richest competition law case law on the planet. The two systems learn from each other and tend to be copied by the rest of the world. The initial focus of the comparative module is understanding the US system, its structure and underlying principles. It then moves on to comparing US and EU approaches to such issues as Monopolisation and Abuse of Dominance, the State Action Doctrine, the rule of reason, as well as differences in procedural law. Insights will also be drawn from other regimes both within and outwith the European Union.
