Law in War- the conduct of hostilities by states and non-state actors

The module deals with the legal regulation of armed conflict. It will look at both conceptual and practical aspects of the law of war. Particular focus will be put on the constant and growing tension between the state-centric nature of international law and the role that non-state armed groups play in situations of armed conflict.

The module aims to develop both detailed knowledge and critical understanding of the regulation of armed conflict. It aims to familiarise students with conceptual and historical aspects of legal regime as well as to equip them to understand and answer current and future questions.
