Angela Jackman is a solicitor who specialises in mental capacity law and Court of Protection litigation. She is ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as a leader in the field.
Angela has been advising patients, the Official Solicitor, Independent Mental Capacity Advisors (IMCAs), Responsible Person’s Representatives (RPRs), family members and charities for over 10 years. She has been involved in landmark Court of Protection cases, including AB v A Local Authority, which determined that RPRs are key individuals for making applications to the Court of Protection on behalf of patients.
Angela has also been involved in a number of best interests matters over the years. She has assisted with resolving difficult issues in dispute between family members and public bodies concerning incapacitated adults or identified issues which require resolution through legal proceedings.
Angela has provided national training to RPRs and IMCAs on their role as litigation friends for patients. She has expert knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Code of Practice and related materials.
Angela’s wealth of experience places her in an ideal position to train and update health practitioners and care home staff on obligations arising under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and from increasingly complex case law evolving from the Court of Protection.
