Entry requirements

City is one of the most ideal institutions for students wanting to study in London. We have a comprehensive selection of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and are in the top 10 universities for graduate starting salaries in the UK.

Entry requirements will vary from course to course and the information on this page is only intended to be a general guide. For individual course requirements, please refer to the course pages, or contact Rolf Jespersen.

Undergraduate

We consider applicants holding the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) at the double unit level. For students taking 'A' levels the requirements are indicated on the individual course information pages. For more information on our requirements please contact Rolf Jespersen.

Postgraduate

Applicants should hold a good Bachelors degree from a recognised university or institution. For more information please contact Rolf Jespersen.

The MBA is a mid-career qualification which is not open to fresh graduates. Applicants must have a good first degree, a minimum of three years management level work experience and a GMAT score of 650 or above.

English language requirements

English requirements can vary, please check under each course page. Applicants holding offers conditional of English may be eligible for pre-sessional English prior to the start of their course.

  • Undergraduate - IELTS 6.0 is required (IELTS 6.5 for business and IELTS 7.0 for journalism and law courses)
  • Postgraduate -  IELTS 6.5 is required (IELTS 7.0 for business, journalism and law courses)

Secure English Language Test (SELT)

For students requiring visas, a Secure English Language Test (SELT) is usually required. A full list of acceptable English Language qualifications can be found at Tier 4 English Requirements.

Pre-sessional English programme

Students who do not meet the English language requirements for their course may have the option to undertake our Pre-sessional English programme at INTO City prior to entry.

Scholarships & loans

Undergraduate

We have a range of partial scholarships available for international students, each based on what qualifications you are studying. The main funding packages for international students are:

  • Global Leaders Scholarship

Postgraduate

Most courses have partial scholarship schemes and details can be found on each course page. If you cannot see a scholarship on the course page and wish to find out if one is available, please email us at international@city.ac.uk.

There are a number of excellent external scholarship schemes available. The most attractive for international students are:

  • The Chevening Scholarship - Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The Scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential. Awards are typically for a one-year Master's degree, in any subject and at any of the UK's leading universities.
