About Information Technology
Information Technology is led by the Director of IT, Claire Priestley, and comprises of five distinct functions.
Director of IT Business: Kristen Goodrich
Our role in IT Business is to understand, interpret and develop awareness of how IT can best support City and Information Technology's strategic plans. This includes identifying and developing new solutions, improvements and efficiencies in our existing technology estate whilst keeping an ‘IT eye’ on the future.
Director of Operations: Eric McIntosh
The IT Operations Team supports the IT infrastructure at City, this includes responsibility for the up-keep of our University computer network which includes 1700 student PCs and 2400 staff PCs, the provision of the wireless internet network, email system, file storage, printing, several University websites, the virtual learning environment and the back up of our data.
We also bring new innovations and developments to City activity for the promotion of teaching and research.
Head of Information Assurance: Jules Spain
Information Assurance has the responsibility for ensuring our information security and compliance is in line with data protection law at City. Alongside this we are also delivering on our IT service improvement plans and business intelligence capabilities as well as developing City's strategic data architecture.
Supplier Relationship Management
Supplier Relationship Manager: Keith Wood
Our role is to manage IT Suppliers and the relationships with those suppliers. This includes managing the IT budgets and creating relevant policies, procedures and processes for the procurement and management of the IT hardware and software life cycle. We also manage software allocation, licensing and compliance.
IT Support Services
Head of Support Services: Istvan Boha
IT Support Services provide first and second line IT support to all students, academic and professional staff. Our teams provide support over the phone, face to face and remotely to over 25,000 users.
There are 3 teams within the function delivering support across City's 23 buildings:
- The IT Service Desk provides support over the phone (extension 8181) as well as face to face and at the Service Points (Service Centre in E101; Bunhill Row LRC (Cass Library) and NSQ Library.
- The Desktop Support Team installs, configures and sets up PCs, laptops and mobile devices across campus. They also visit staff to support a wide range of IT issues locally.
- The Audio Visual Team ensures classroom equipment is available and fully functional, as well as providing onsite support for the numerous events at City.
