Speaker: Eleanor Dare (RCA)

Series: CityLIS After Hours

Eleanor Dare will talk about the limits of symbolic representation and some alternative systems and approaches she’s developed, alone and in collaboration with a range of colleagues, over the last several years. These include:

  • VAINS, a brain driven interface for accessing an online database of digital art (Weinberg and Dare, 2012-),
  • Mycorrhizal Curation: minimal cognition for maximal cooperation, (Dare and Papadaki, 2020),
  • The Riverine Archive (Anonopoulou and Dare, 2018-), an archive built on the premise of data’s contingency and limitations.

Eleanor Dare is Reader in in Digital Media at the RCA’s School of Communication
