Series: Good Practice in Research Week

Speaker: Richard Alderman and Professor Pam Parker

As part of the second day of City’s Good Practice in Research Week, Publishing Your Research, this session will discuss how to get your abstract accepted and presenting posters and papers successfully at a conference.

Richard Alderman is City’s Assistant Registrar for Research Degrees, overseeing all the policies and regulations relating to City’s postgraduate research degree programmes. He works with the academic Schools to advise on University regulations, and coordinates central administration such as University induction events, external examiners for research degree viva examinations, conference funding and guidance for students.

Professor Pam Parker is the deputy director of the directorate of Learning and Enhancement and Development which supports teaching and learning across the institution and staff development. Pam has been involved in the professional development events for the graduate school since its inception and specifically in relation to the sessions today.

Pam is the module leader for the Research Supervision module on the MA Academic Practice and has provided many conference presentations and is on the SEDA national conference committee as well as on the advisory board for the learner research network.  Pam has also undertaken a range of qualitative research studies.
