Building chatbots for social good and NLP in the wild

AI for Good aims to power non-profit sectors with AI technologies. With the spread of Facebook and WhatsApp in developing countries, chatbots have proven to be an engaging media to interact with young adults and millennials. For the past year or so AI for Good has developed chatbots dealing with important social issues, including domestic violence, sex education and mental health.

In this talk, we are going to go through the approaches of AI for Good and research and development of Natural Language Processing behind the scenes.


Billy graduated from University of Cambridge with a bachelor and masters degree in Information and Computing Engineering, specialising in Machine Learning and Deep Learning.

He joined AI for Good, a startup founded by Artificial Intelligence expert and leading global voice on ethical technology, Kriti Sharma, in the summer of 2019 as a data scientist.

Following his passion in university, where he founded the Engineering for Social Good group, Billy is managing the AI for Good meetup to facilitate more projects and collaborations in the AI for Social Good world.
