Series: Good Practice in Research Week
Speakers: Dr Leonie Fleischmann
In the penultimate session of City’s Good Practice in Research Week’s final day, Practical Skills, Dr Leonie Fleischmann will present a practical guide to preparing and conducting interviews for research. It will cover two aspects of interviewing. First, it will look at different types of interviews and provide advice for preparing a topic guide, including using different types of questions.
This will be followed by techniques for a productive interview, with practical exercises for participants to engage with.
Dr Leonie Fleischmann is a lecturer in International Politics. Her research explores the role of social movements, civil resistance campaigns and human rights activism in challenging oppressive regimes. Her recent book, published by I.B.Tauris, analyses the transformation of Israeli peace and anti-occupation activism. A further recently published piece of work explored the role of Israeli-Jewish activists in Palestinian resistance. These projects involved over 100 interviews with Israeli and Palestinian activists, journalists and policy makers.
