The talk is by Ruth Barnett based on this years Holocaust memorial day theme "Torn from Home" and from the play that her son has put together "What Price for Justice".
Ruth Barnett, daughter of an up-and-coming young judge and the director of a cinema advertising business, had her life turned upside down when the Nazis came to power. In 1939, aged 4, she was taken to England on the Kindertransport, escaping certain death. "I had just enough appropriate help at just the right times to overcome the trauma of repeated separations and identity upheaval".
The talk will be offered and supported by the three unions at City, Unison, UCU and Unite and is open to all staff and students. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
