City University Chamber Ensembles: Bach, Handel, Mozart
The talented instrumental students of City's Department of Music, directed by conductor Tim Hooper, perform masterpieces of 18th century music, opening with Bach's well-known suite: a French overture coloured by the vibrancy of Polish dance music; and culminating with Mozart's elegant, lyrical model of musical construction, the Clarinet Quintet.
The concert will take place in the beautiful church of St Clement's, Finsbury, in King Square, a five minute walk from the University Building on Northampton Square.
Programme:
- J.S. Bach, Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067 (1739/1740)
- G.F. Handel, Concerto Grosso Op.6 No. 1 in G major, HWV 319 (1739)
- W.A. Mozart, Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581 (1789)
