City, University of London has its very own beehives, located on the roof of one of the buildings. A dedicated team of volunteer amateur beekeepers look after the bees.
We are pleased to invite you to a special event to harvest the honey from our two beehives.
You will be able to learn more about the journey from hive to honeypot and get involved in the different stages of the process; from uncapping the honeycombs to pouring the honey into jars. The bees themselves will remain in their hives, located on the University’s roof, and will not take part in the activity!
Alongside the harvest itself will be activities for children with a sustainability focus, taste testing of the honey and, most importantly, the chance to take home a sample of honey.
The event will take place on Thursday 29thAugust from 1.00pm-4.00pm in the CityBar, Goswell Road, EC1V 0HB and is open to the whole community and children ages 5+. Washing facilities will be available but guests will get sticky so suitable clothing is advised!
