Series: SPARCfest 2018

Coinciding with the 2018 SPARC Symposium, composer-performer Thomas Meadowcroft brings the his latest installment of his ongoing solo project to the UK, reflecting the German sub-genre of Alleinunterhaltung ('entertaining alone'). Employing drum machines, organ, analogue tape processing and synthesizer, the Berlin-based Australian has presented this re-imagined 'part-time job’ music at KW Berlin, IGNM Bern, Holland Festival, and Issue Project Room, New York.

Thomas Meadowcroft (AUS) studied composition with George Crumb at the University of Pennsylvania, before moving to Berlin, Germany in 1998. He has worked in a variety of production contexts and genres, including music for the concert hall, theatre, pop music and radio. Recent works include the orchestral work The News in Music, for the South West German Radio Symphony Orchestra (cond. Ilan Volkov), and the radiophonic work Moving Homes (Deutschlandfunk Kultur/ABC Radio National).

For full details of the SPARC events on 11th-15th September, please see the symposium listing, or visit the SPARC website: sparc.london.
