Speaker: Ashley McDougall, Local Service Delivery study Director, National Audit Office (NAO)
The seminar will outline the financial and service challenges involved in supporting people with a learning disability. It will draw on the National Audit Office’s work on local services and the national picture of straitened local authority finances to set out figures on expenditure, service provision and quality of life and the concerns of the Committee of Public Accounts.
About the speaker
Ashley has worked for the NAO since 1987. He is responsible for cross-cutting studies involving local government and central government. His current and recent studies include Avoiding emergency admissions (Spring 2018), Health and social care integration (February 2017), Local support for people with a learning disability (March 2017), Children in need of help or protection (October 2016) and Discharging older people from hospital (May 2016).
He also led the NAO’s Planning for the Better Care Fund (November 2014). His underlying interests include how best to balance local delivery and innovation with system-wide accountability and how the integration of health and social care can offer improved services and better value for money
