Academic Diary

Speaker: Professor Les Back, Goldsmiths, University of London.

The Department of Sociology in the The School of Arts and Social Sciences welcomes Professor Les Black as part of its 2017-18 Research Seminar Series.

Professor Rosalind Gill (Cultural and Creative Industries, Sociology) will be in conversation with Les Back about his book Academic Diary.

Academic Diary takes the innovative form of reflecting on university life — its meanings and rituals —  throughout the year, whilst chronicling Professor Les Back’s experience in the academy, asking if universities are still relevant and whether academics should be allowed near Twitter.

Professor Rosalind Gill has written a number of widely influential pieces on the neoliberal university. Please join us for the Department of Sociology’s first open seminar of the spring term. All welcome.
