Tom Herbert & Ruth Goller: Low Tunes




Ruth Goller and Tom Herbert A unique collaboration between two of London’s most imaginative bass players, whose work crosses the borders between jazz, pop, punk, folk, experimental and world music.

Low Tunes will feature their solo music and a fresh new duo set, pitting bass against bass.

Tom Herbert

Tom Herbert is a bass player in Mercury Music Prize nominated bands The Invisible and Polar Bear, vocal/double bass duo Moats & Thrones and was a founder-member of the British jazz-punk band Acoustic Ladyland.

Tom has also performed and recorded with a wide range of musicians including Paolo Nutini, Jessie Ware, Frank Ocean, Adele, Beck, St Vincent, Cibo Matto, Yoko Ono, Roots Manuva, Roisin Murphy, Ghostpoet, Portico Quartet, Finn Peters’ Finntet and on the theme and soundtrack to the cult BBC comedy League of Gentleman.

Tom is currently on the teaching staff at The Royal Academy of Music.

Ruth Goller

Ruth Goller, originally from Bressanone, Italy, performs regularly with leading UK bands, such as Melt Yourself Down, Andreya Triana, Oriole, Pat Walden, World Sanguine Report, The Golden Age of Steam, Bug Prentice, The Sefiroth Ensemble and many more.

Outside the UK, Ruth toured and worked with Malian singer Rokia Traoré, renowned Serbian pianist and composer Bojan Z, Iranian Sufi master and musician Davood Azad, Somali singer Aar Maanta and Mim Suleiman.

She also has written monthly columns for Bass Guitar Magazine and teaches electric bass at Kent University.
