Speaker: Professor Yuri Kachanov, Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russian Federation
Research Centre: Turbulence and Flow Control Research Group
Title: Deterministic Turbulence: Idea and Its Experimental Realisation
Abstract:
This presentation is devoted to the following aspects of the problem. On the existence of a randomization (stochastization) stage of the laminar-turbulent transition in boundary layers. On the Laplacian (mechanical) determinism and reproducibility of instantaneous structure of fluid flows. Idea on the deterministic turbulence and underlying hypotheses. Experimental realization of the deterministic turbulence. Cases when the deterministic turbulence is possible.
Short Bio:
Professor Yuri Kachanov is a lead research scientist at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Novosibirsk, Russia. He is a recipient of a number of international awards and prizes, including the Prof. G.I.Petrov’s Prize for outstanding results in the theory of hydrodynamic instability and turbulence in 2010 and the “Ludwig Prandtl Ring” for outstanding achievements in all areas of aerodynamics in 2008
