What is Corporate Governance for and what role do NEDs play?

Corporate governance may be interpreted as a response to issues arising from the various stakeholders – such as shareholders, executives and employees - making competing claims upon companies. At the centre of the practices comprising corporate governance are issues of trust and power with associated aspirations of control. What really is meant by corporate governance and what is its purpose?

Executives and Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) have a significant role to play within the governance framework as well as driving forward the success of the organisation. Are they able to competently do this and if so what are the inherent challenges?

The presentation and discussion will combine business practice with academic research and thought leadership.

After the speaker presentations, there will be a questions & comments session.

This will be followed by our customary networking session. Refreshments & canapés will be served. There will be our popular business card draw with a member and non-member prize.

If you have any questions relating to this event please email the Hon Sec, Mei Sim Lai OBE DL.
