The Real Ethical Dilemmas for new Entrants to Commercial Firms

Staff, Students, Academics

Open to all City Law School students but please book a place

An expert panel will discuss with you case studies that address the real problems you are likely to encounter in the early years of commercial practice.

If you think ‘legal ethics’ is too dry and theoretical, too dominated by Codes of Conduct or simply something you need to understand better, this session will give you practical insight from leading figures in the profession. While focusing on solicitors’ commercial practice it will be of relevance to you if interested in other areas of practice, practice at the Bar, or if you are simply undecided.

The Panel

  • Sarah de Gay- General Counsel and Head of Compliance, Slaughter and May and Chair of the Professional Rules and Regulations Committee, City of London Law Society
  • Tony King - Director, LK Law Ltd and former Director, Clifford Chance Academy
  • Caroline Pearce - Head of KM and Training at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and Chair of the Training Committee, City of London Law Society.

Nigel Duncan - Professor of Legal Education, City Law School

Hosted by the Legal Ethics Forum of City Law School’s Centre for the Study of Legal Professional Practice.
