Centre for Compressor Technology Seminar Series 2016

Doctor Giuseppe Bianchi
post-doctoral research fellow
Department of Industrial and Information Engineering and Economics
University of L'Aquila, Italy

Abstract

The seminar will provide an overview of the research at the state of the art concerned to sliding vane machines. Comprehensive theoretical and experimental methodologies applied to vane compressors, expanders and pumps will be presented with reference to multiple industrial applications such as compressed air systems, waste heat recovery and automotive contexts. The relevance of CFD tools in the development of next generation sliding vane machines will be eventually outlined.

Speaker's Bio

Dr. Bianchi, post-doctoral research fellow at the University of L'Aquila (Italy), is currently a visiting research scholar at City University as ASME ORC fellow. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering in 2015 with a thesis on the exhaust waste heat recovery in automotive applications using ORC systems based on sliding vane machines. His main research areas are compressed air systems, waste heat recovery and thermal management of internal combustion engines.
