Data Bites lunch time sessions are back! Join us for a new term of great talks.
If you are interested in Big Data and its many applications, you won’t want to miss out on these sessions.
On 11th November, Andrew Merryweather from Thomson Reuters will talk about Maps for professionals who are interested in everything: physical asset data in finance
Location: Room DLGO3, The Rhind Building, St John Street.
For commodities traders and supply chain managers, ‘big data’ means a universe of just about every physical asset on the planet: ships, mines, refineries, power plants, pipelines - the list is long and dynamic.
Designing a map to display these physical assets in real time can seem relatively straightforward, a matter of plotting data points on a map. However, there are unique challenges in pulling that kind of product together across multiple data sources and teams in a large organisation like Thomson Reuters.
Andrew will take a look at the ongoing design of their Interactive Map product as a case study of big data product design in the enterprise.
Our Data Bites sessions provide a great opportunity to meet the experts in the field as well as serving as a platform to ask technical and practical questions about the use of data across different industries.
How does it work?
It’s simple, you bring your lunch and we provide an interesting talk and a great opportunity to network and get your questions answered. Time: 12pm to 1pm.
