Speaker: Richard Hawkes, Chief Executive Scope and Chair of the Care and Support Alliance
Demand for care is growing as our population ages and medical technology improves. Richard Hawkes will share the latest in future trends analysis, exploring how the delivery and funding of care must change in response to powerful demographic, behavioural and technological trends over the next decade. He will look at implications, opportunities and challenges for care users, care providers, companies, employees, commissioners and policy makers beyond 2020.
Richard Hawkes has been Chief Executive of Scope, the disability charity, since January 2010. Prior to that he was the International Programmes Director for VSO, with responsibility for programmes in more than 40 countries. He has also been the Chief Executive of an international charity working for people who are both deaf and blind and has worked for other international organisations, including the United Nations in Vienna. Richard is Chair of the Care and Support Alliance which represents more than 70 organisations seeking to influence the future of social care in this country. He is also Chair of iPartner India, an organisation that enables effective and sustainable giving from the Asian community in the UK. He is a member of the BBC Appeals Advisory Committee, a Trustee of Skills Effect Board (the skills council for the voluntary sector) and a Trustee of the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group.
