A study of several cases of translated poetry from English to Greek and vice versa, as well as examples from French and Spanish poetry, to show how the rhythm of the original poem can be retained in the target text and what translation techniques and theories can be used in order to transfer not only the meaning but also the music of each poem into another language.
Dr Vassilis Manoussakis is a literary translator, University lecturer, and writer. He holds a Ph.D. in American Poetry and currently teaches literary translation at the Hellenic American University. He has published two poetry collections and one short story collection. His poems, essays and articles have appeared in literary magazines in Greece and abroad. Has also taught in various universities in Greece and other European countries.
