Attack of the Killer Robots - In recent years equity markets have come to be dominated by computer-based trading algorithms. This is seen by many market insiders and politicians as having had damaging consequences. This talk will review the academic evidence on how computer-based trading has affected the quality of markets, will identify gaps in the academic literature and evaluate the possible policy responses to the concerns raised by computer-based trading.
