Our natural starting point is the core classical repertoire of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, but we also aim to place these giants of the genre into a broader context. We investigate the origins of the quartet, including Haydn's lesser-known mid-18th century contemporaries such as Richter and Vanhal.

We cast a wide historical net, from 17th century string consorts by, for example, Biber and Purcell, to the early Romantics such as Mendelssohn and Schumann.

The Constanze Quartet are passionate communicators and delight in introducing works from the platform. We aim to sweep away formal barriers to spread our enthusiasm for the music we love, and to bring our audiences the best in artistry and entertainment.
