The City Law School and the Aikaterina Laskaridou Foundation, Piraeus, Greece warmly invite you to attend a symposium about current legal issues affecting the commercial operation of the shipping business.

The symposiums of ancient Greece may have been male only affairs, but our Shipping Law Symposium is for the modern world. On the evening, the guests and speakers will be male and female, mainly Greek, but with an international element.

The symposium will begin with an address by the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation and Anthony Rogers, Course Director LLM Maritime Law, The City Law School. This will be followed by the speakers of the evening.

The symposium will conclude with a chance to discuss the subjects covered by the speakers and also to examine current maritime issues of a legal nature in a question and answer session.

The speakers will also be joined by Professor Jason Chuah, Head of Academic Programmes at The City Law School and Professor Christopher Ryan, Associate Dean International, The City Law School.

A buffet and refreshments will be served following the question and answer session where you can talk informally with other guests.

The City Law School would like to thank the Aikaterina Laskaridou Foundation and, in particular, Mrs Marilena Laskaridou for their assistance in organising this event and for their generous and continuing support.

Speakers include:

A well known author and lecturer on maritime subjects as diverse as maritime liens and marine insurance, Professor Rhidian Thomas will give the keynote address and speak about ship arrest in the light of the new Arrest Convention
