Speakers: Professor Kevin Jones, Dr George Buchannan
LOCATION: The Pool (AG17), Ground Floor College Building
Silicon@City is the first in a series of events hosted by the School of Informatics that aims to encourage interaction, knowledge share and collaboration between University staff, students and local businesses.
We hope that this evening will provide the chance for local businesses to find out more about City University London and more specifically the School of Informatics. We have a number of speakers from the University who will be hosting discussions throughout the evening and there will also be an opportunity after the talks, where we will be providing drinks and food, for you to meet University staff and other attendees.
Please see below for further details regarding the talks:
"What makes a place great as a home for technology innovation (and why the original Silicon Valley succeeded)"
Professor Kevin Jones, Professor of Dependability and Security of Socio-technical systems at our internationally recognised Centre for Software Reliability.
Kevin has over 20 years experience in Silicon Valley CA, holding executive, managerial, technical and research positions, in both successful start up companies and major corporations.
"Making Usability a Competitive Advantage - Roadbumps and Successes"
Dr George Buchannan, Senior Lecturer in Human Computer Interaction
George's research interests surround information interaction: from web search, through browsing digital libraries, to accessing information on a mobile phone.
There will also be the opportunity to view the City Interaction Lab. This is the consultancy arm of our HCI (Human Computer Interaction) design group, London's largest human computer interaction related research group.
