Speaker: Professor Paul Curran, Vice-Chancellor, City University London
City in 2016
Professor Curran, our new Vice-Chancellor, joined City in August having served previously as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) at the University of Southampton and Vice-Chancellor at Bournemouth University.
He is a former National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) research scientist and advisor to the European Space Agency (ESA). He has award-winning work in ecological Earth observation and is a member of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Board and Universities UK. He chaired the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Higher Education Workforce Steering Group and is President of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society.
Professor Curran is an enthusiast for high quality higher education and sees the challenge at City as helping an exceptionally successful University reposition itself internationally. At the VC Open House, Professor Curran will share his early impressions of the University and outline how we will develop a Vision for City in 2016 and a Strategic Plan to achieve it.
There will be refreshments in the of the Oliver Thompson foyer from 10.00 - 10.30 followed by Professor Curran's presentation and Q&A from 10.30 - 11.30 in the Oliver Thompson Lecture Theatre.
