CitySpark 2011, the City University-wide student competition for innovative new ideas in business and social enterprise.
Guest speakers include:
* Al Gosling will reveal how he has taken the Extreme brand to new heights from humble beginnings, selling surf wear from the boot of his car whilst taking his exams.
* Kelly Perdew will speak via video link from California about the three most critical leadership characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, and will share insights from entrepreneurs he has interviewed.
* City’s own recent graduate Yvette Snowden will relate how she launched Find-Me-A-Dress.com (UK’s first comparison website for dresses) during her final year here at City University.
CitySpark was initiated in 2009-10. A first prize of £5,000 along with entry into the London City Incubator awaits the best team who submits the best business plan. The second prize winners get £2,500, while third prize students take home £1,000.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Paul Curran will give the welcome remarks and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & International) Professor Dinos Arcoumanis the closing remarks at the end of the evening’s event.
