Series: How do Universities preserve values whilst adapting to the rapidly changing environment?
Continuity and Change
Universities are facing a period of change driven by new technology, expectations of students, government and other funders, the economic situation, the internationalisation and broadening of higher education. Universities are (along with the Churches and Army) amongst the most unchanged institutions, what we do and the way we do it would be recognisable to a Victorian academic or student.
How can we continue to preserve the values and long-term ethos of the University whilst adapting to the rapidly changing environment about us – or is refusing to change the best survival tactic!
