Hosted by alumnus Guarav Kalia (Mathematical Sciences, 2007), this event was an opportunity for both ex and current students to meet up and network.
"The event went well. 20 graduates from 2007 and 2008 made appearances; the majority were from Mathematics, Finance and Economics with a selection from Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing. Many of the mathematics lecturers were also present ,including the Director of Mathematics, Anton Cox and the conjoint Dean of SEMS, Ken Gratton.
An interesting discussion started about Quantum Physics. The graduate mathematicians and staff physicists posed the question to the optometrists whether light is a wavelength or particle. As mathematicians we believed that optometrists should be in a place to comment as light is projected onto the back of the eye. A strange concept to debate but educational nonetheless!"
