The StudyWell Team

The StudyWell name and idea was conceived by Patrick Baughan following his earlier work in plagiarism prevention strategies and initiatives at City. The site has subsequently been developed by a team of dedicated staff, here at City.

Patrick Baughan

Patrick is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Development, and Programme Director of the MA Academic Practice programme, here at City. He teaches and researches in a wide variety of educational development areas, including: learning, teaching and assessment; feedback approaches, educational integrity and plagiarism prevention strategies; student support issues; and mentoring.

Kate Clarkson

Kate recently joined the Learning Development Centre at City and supports and advises staff in their use of web-based learning technologies. Kate has experience in the design of authentic assessment and learning activities which utilise web technologies. With a number of years’ experience in the Australian higher education sector, Kate has a keen interest in the strategic management of learning technologies to support and enhance good teaching practice.

Mandy Cumbridge

Mandy is Learning and Research Support Co-ordinator for the School of Arts. She liaises with students and staff to develop library services to support the School. As well as conducting hands on workshops to enable students to exploit library resources to support learning, Mandy also attends School Committees, acquires reading list materials, develops online information literacy tools to assist research, and offers advice on citing and referencing, and research strategies.

Joanna Pentecost

Joanna graduated from City with a Law Degree in 2003.  Since then she has worked for the Students’ Union representing students across City on a wide range of academic issues including disciplinary cases, appeals, and complaints.  She now works in the Learning Development Centre as part of a team promoting innovative and effective teaching and learning throughout City.

Other Staff

Various other colleagues have been involved in the writing and construction of the StudyWell site, including Annemarie Cancienne, Pam Parker, Ajmal Sultany and Paul Izzard (Learning Development Centre), Nigel Duncan (City Law School), Kathryn Taylor (Academic Development Unit) and Jo Wood (School of Informatics).
