This highly popular short course provides an introduction to project management, covering the project planning stage through to implementation.

Project management is an essential skill within all organisations; planning, implementing, overseeing and evaluating projects.  This project management short course covers the essential knowledge, skill and techniques required to ensure successful completion of any project, large or small.

This course will be delivered by expert industry project managers in just 10 weeks from our Central London campus.

Course overview

This part-time evening course provides a general introduction to project management, ranging from the project planning process - setting up project aims and objectives and budgeting - to adoption and structure.

It uses a variety of useful project planning tools, including risk analysis and management. It also examines the role of project manager and project team.

  • Understand basic project management terminology, methodology and the role of project manager;
  • Understand the fundamentals of Gantt charts, Critical Path Analysis and PERT;
  • Appreciate why projects fail and how failure can be avoided;
  • Appreciate the effect of project management on third parties;
  • Understand how to produce a project plan with effective budgeting;
  • Understand project management in terms of its project plan construction, identification of appropriate milestones, budget, and consideration of effective project review;
  • Outline basic tools and techniques of risk analysis and management.

  • Larry Brotherton

    Larry Brotherton is a PRINCE2 Practitioner qualified Project Manager with over 25 years' experience of the successful delivery of full life-cycle commercial IT projects and programmes for software, network infrastructure & telecommunications.

    Working as an independent project manager for the last fifteen years, he has led project teams of up to 40 personnel and managed project budgets of over £10M. He has delivered projects in many business sectors and worked throughout the UK and Europe, as well as in Asia and the USA.

    Always interested in the practical application of project management process and procedures, Larry is a Full Member of the Association for Project Management.

  • Marian Wancio

    Marian Wancio is an adaptable Project Manager with experience in delivering a range of projects in various industries, including Telco, Oil & Gas, Banking & Finance, Government Defence, Education and Pharmaceuticals.

    Marian has experience in the full lifecycle of project management and has worked on both large, global scale projects with virtual teams, as well as smaller projects. Marian has worked with a range of project management methodologies and governance environments. Marian also holds the PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification to support his credentials.
