This course introduces participants to planning and delivering language therapy in British Sign Language.
The course will be taught, mainly in BSL, by a specialist SLT and Deaf practitioner. Both have extensive experience of working with children who have language learning difficulties in BSL.
Participants must have attended, or work closely with a colleague who has attended, the BSL Production Test Training course.
Participants must also be currently work with children who are or are aiming to be BSL users.
Good written English skills.
What will I learn?
Basic skills in planning, delivering and evaluating language therapy sessions in BSL. The course will support SLTs and Deaf tutors, instructors and those in other roles to work more effectively together to support the language learning needs of children who use BSL.
Teaching and Assessment
The course provides theoretical information in presentations as well as video observation of cases. Group discussion and practical activities are included to support learning.
