Learn Italian in a few short weeks with our Beginners Summer Intensive course. This concentrated course will teach you the entire syllabus of the Italian Beginners course in just 10 weeks in the summer term.
The Italian Fast Track course consists of two evening classes per week for a total of 10 weeks. In this time you will cover all three modules of the beginners course, giving you an excellent grasp on basic Italian in a short space of time.
Challenging but rewarding, the course is perfectly suited to those looking to develop a basic command of Italian.
All of our language short courses are taught by qualified native speakers and delivered at City, University of London’s main campus, in the heart of the capital.
Learn Italian from scratch with this fast track course designed for complete beginners who want to quickly gain social communication skills to get by in Italy in daily life situations.
You will be perfecting pronunciation of basic Italian words, recognising sounds in short Italian clips, give small presentations, learning different tenses, understanding the press and discovering Italian culture.
Expect to be immersed in the Italian language even at this early stage with many speaking and group work activities.
With the support of a tutor to facilitate your learning in class and outside the class with electronic means, you will be able to engage in a mini conversation with Italian native speakers at the end of the course.
The Italian Fast Track short course is designed for complete beginners with no prior knowledge of Italian.
This is an intensive Italian short course requiring regular attendance and homework commitments between lessons, as the content of three terms are covered in one.
If you are not a complete beginner and have some prior knowledge of Italian, you may wish to join our Italian Lower Intermediate (Year 2) course or join Module Two or Module Three of the Italian Beginners (Year 1) course. You can check your level using our online guidelines.

You will need to respond to instructions and read course documents in English.
The emphasis in this course is on listening and speaking. The lessons focus on language that is required in authentic situations.
There is no formal assessment and no qualification is issued at the end of the course, but you will be awarded an official City, University of London certificate on completion of the course. You must attend over 70 per cent of the classes to be eligible for the certificate.

Listening to audio clips and watching videos are an important element in our lessons. More comprehensive grammar exercises and reading texts are generally set as homework.
All evaluation will take place in a relaxed and informal setting.

It is not necessary to buy a textbook as photocopies will be given out in class. No single course book is used, though material will be taken from.
A small Italian-English/English Italian dictionary would be very useful.

Veronica De Felice has a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (2009), a Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults (Goldsmiths, 2006) and a BA in Foreign Languages (Napoli, 2002).
She has been teaching Italian and translation in various institutions such as Goldsmiths College, the University of the Arts, Croydon College and various language schools in London.
